Prof Auwal Anwar

Auwalu Anwar worked with the Department of History, University of Maiduguri, 1984–1997. He served as Special Adviser (Political) to the Speaker, House of Representatives, 2000–2003; Special Assistant to the President, posted to the FCT as Secretary for Education, Agriculture and Rural Development and Health and Human Services, 2004–2007; Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Islamic Civilization and Interfaith Dialogue (CICID), Bayero University, Kano, 2015–2016. His area of research interest is on Struggle for Influence and Identity among the Ulama in Northern Nigeria since 1920s. He publishes in both English and Hausa.
