VACANCY: Policy Analyst

Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative (IWEI) is a female-founded, women led, non-profit with over 13 years experience empowering women and girls with information, knowledge and skills they need to thrive.

IWEI will be implementing a policy integration and implementation project, aimed at driving ownership, domestication, and implementation of the National WEE Policy in Kano. The project aims to establish a robust
framework and approach for WEE policy integration and implementation, that is sustainable
and driven through local governance and community structures. In so doing, it will address
critical gender disparities and catalyze sustainable economic and social development.

It is in line with this that we are looking for qualified candidate to fill the role of Policy Analyst

About the Role

As a Policy Analyst, you will play a critical role on the Project. You will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing policies, and developing recommendations to advance the domestication and implementation of the National WEE Policy. You will also engage with stakeholders at all levels, from government policymakers to community leaders, to build support for our initiatives.  

Job Description

Research and Analysis

Conducting thorough research on various topics related to policy development, including gathering and analyzing data, reviewing existing policies, and identifying gaps or areas for improvement.

Policy Development

Collaborating with stakeholders to develop new policies or revise existing ones based on your research findings and analysis. This may involve drafting policy proposals, conducting cost-benefit analysis, and assessing the potential impact of proposed policies.

Stakeholder Engagement

Engaging with key stakeholders, such as government officials, industry experts, and community members, to gather input and ensure that policies align with their needs and concerns. This may involve organizing consultations, meetings, or public forums.

Policy Implementation

Assisting in the implementation of policies by providing guidance and support to relevant departments or teams. This may include creating implementation plans, monitoring progress, and evaluating the effectiveness of policies once they are put into practice.

Policy Evaluation

Assessing the impact and effectiveness of policies by conducting evaluations and analyzing data. This helps determine if policies are achieving their intended outcomes and if any adjustments or improvements are needed.

Reporting and Documentation

Compiling research findings, analysis, and recommendations into reports, briefs, or presentations for internal or external use. This ensures that policy decisions are well-documented and communicated effectively

About you/must-haves for the position

A minimum of a university degree or its equivalent in public policy, political science, economics, or any social science-related field.

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in policy analysis, research, or advocacy.  

Exposure to government.

Strong oral and written communication 

You must understand the modalities of policies

Your must poses strong analytical skills, research capabilities, and the ability to effectively communicate complex information to stakeholders.
